Hi Mathew!
I’m a new member and I can tell you I’m extremely happy I joined. Your YouTube videos served as an excellent introduction to you and your work. I’ve always wanted to spend more time improving my drawing skills. I have a MFA and this is an area that I can use a great deal of improvement. Your YouTube videos started me on my way and I suspect a lot of people become addicted to your teaching style.
Keep up the good work,
Allan

I stumbled across your work a few days ago by chance while browsing through YouTube tutorials. I’m a high school junior and I’m currently in an art concentration program at my school. I was looking for a tutorial on how to create soft looking hair and I was struck by the beautiful ways in which you captured the human figure. I normally do not sketch or draw in my free time (as junior year in high school permits me minimal free time anymore.), but until a few days ago (after watching one of your tutorials), I picked up my pencil and sketched a few images and tried a few of your suggested techniques. And I’m very glad to report that your methods are phenomenal, and they have made a tremendous (and positive) impact on my work. You have helped me understand to a higher degree, the anatomical aspect of art, relating to body proportions, etc, which has always been my greatest challenge. I can’t describe how much your tutorials have helped. thanks for rekindling my passion for art, and hope to see you one day while I peruse the halls of the Met. =]
God Bless,
Liz

Just wanted to give you a huge Thank You. I am a native of the NY metropolitan area. In high school I took a liking to art in several forms but mostly enjoyed drawing. I attended FIT for 3 semesters before dropping out to attend nursing school in Staten Island. I have always enjoyed art, but somehow threw it all away (along with the patternmaking and costume design) when I left FIT; the whole experience there was a bit daunting.
20 something years later, I found myself teaching a fashion design class to a group of homeschooled teenagers. My illustration skills were and still weak. So, a few months ago I found your site and started with the free tutorials and my passion to draw is back! Your rendering fabrics tutorial has helped as well.
I plan on purchasing some of your videos and have been recommending your site to others.
Thanks again,
Kamilla
