Front View Portrait Drawing Tutorial is what I have been waiting for. I really hope you take this drawing to the next level. Would you address the issue of how doing a portrait from a live model would differ from a photo (live models move). I might not be interested in doing the Photoshop but as you say, painting is painting. So very valuable information. Really looking forward to more on this.

I appreciate your comment. I teach many different techniques on my site. This tutorial is just one of many ways that I start a drawing. My main approach is a layered approach using surface planes, angles, anatomy, etc. I think you might be taking this one 12 minute video out of context. But that’s okay.

Matt, let me be honest. You are definitly NOT mastering digital drawing. It’s terrible to see, how you start in photoshop and restart after a few seconds (just because you dont use photoshop layers). I could see the fear (see Marshall Vandruff How to draw animals DVD). Instead of sketching it with a kind of help lines you want to start perfect. This fear of the mistake (which could be done) is it which makes it so terrible. I wanted to join the site, but now i am not sure. If you are going to publish more tutorials this digital way, i am not interested anymore. If you are going to go back to traditional pencil and paper (which you are mastering definitely!), I want to join.

Please please please don’t stop the traditional pencil online tutorials or DVDs!

I have waited patiently for this to come along and am very pleased. I am looking to see how the second approach develops as that is the one I find most difficult. I eagerly await the next installment of the tutorial.
