I just finished uploading a fourteen chapter video tutorial titled “How To Glass” over at Drawing Tutorials Online I wanted to share some tips with you about how to draw glass before the long Memorial Day weekend.
In this Podcast 19 we talk about how to start drawing a glass. You want to look for big shapes of value first. Don’t get too caught up in little minor highlight details. The other tip we provide in the podcast is to place an extreme dark value next to a bright white value. Juxtaposing dark values next to white values in strategic locations will add to the reflective quality of glass.
Try setting up your own glass still-life this weekend. Get some iced tea and start drawing. Let us know how it goes. Post your drawing up over at our facebook fan page.
Thanks for watching!
Matt

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The stin g of death is sin, and. The power of sin is the law. But thanks be to Go d, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. sdgfdg

Hi Matt,
I just discovered your website. In relation to the post of the glass, particularly on the process of drawing with pencil, I’d like to mention in my blog I usually show the different stages of a drawing pencil.

Matt,
I paused a moment to send you a note because I am using one of your videos as a reference for a tutorial on drawing tree landscapes. You asked for imput on how to push through a plateau. I have found that it helps to move on to a new-to-you type of art. If you typically render realistic pencil drawings, consider abstract or cubism. The idea is to force your brain with exercises so that it breaks out of the rut. You can also take the opportunity to try out some form of art you have never tried like cartooning or encaustic painting. The new form will force you to open yourself up and whether you like it or not you will start seeing and learning new things about art. This will expose you to weird little stuff and encourage you to try out techniques that are completely different from your usual stuff.
When you come back to your favorite artist materials you will usually find that you have changed. What you will do may be only slightly different but it will be different. You will be less willing to be comfortably good and you will be more eager to be uncomfortably trying to be that much better.

Hi Everyone,
