It’s been a few weeks since I’ve filmed a sketchbook video. Our Fall semester is now over at the School of Visual Arts. So when I reviewed Karina’s sketchbook I knew I had to ask her if she would be up for a sketchbook video. Lucky for us she agreed.

Wonderful sketchbook. I love how she colours with her markers. And you can really tell she likes to experiment with different ways of getting an idea or emotion across with her typography.
Another thing I really enjoyed was her interpretation of characters, like I saw the 11th Doctor, the Avengers, Sherlock and Dean + Castiel from Supernatural. It was fun to see them in her style.

I’m just beginning to draw and I’m very lazy and distractable. Katrina’s work demonstrates the importance of drawing every day and using a visual diary. I live in a very small town so no major museums to observe great art. But we do have a small cultural centre, so perhaps it’s time I ventured out and took the plunge. Excellent work Katrina you have amazing talent. Keep up the videos Matt!
